How to Prep Your Home for Window and Door Installation

Installation day is the most exciting part of purchasing replacement windows or doors for your home! 

While our team will take care of all aspects of installation, including any permits, there are a few things you can do to prepare your Muscle Shoals home for your new windows and doors.

What to Expect on Installation Day

When our team arrives to your home on your scheduled installation day, here’s what you can expect:

1. Our installers will carefully unload your new windows and measure each window perimeter to ensure your new windows were manufactured to the correct size. Our windows are manufactured specifically for your home, so it’s important they fit to a tee.
2. When our technicians have confirmed the windows, they’ll expertly remove your old windows and take the materials to be recycled, if possible. Our team is trained to complete this with as little damage to your drywall as possible.
3. Then, they’ll carefully install the new windows, ensuring they’re plumb, level, and square.
4. Once your new windows are in place, they’ll properly caulk the exterior so you don’t have to worry about leaks. 
5. At this point, all that’s left is cleanup and inspection! They’ll inspect each new window or door with you to ensure you’re happy with the finished product. 

Installation takes around half an hour per window, so your installation day won’t actually take the entire day!

Preparing for Window Installation

• Take down all window treatments, including blinds and curtains
• Take any decals, clings, or stickers off the window that you’d like to keep
• Remove any furniture that is in front of your windows
• Remove anything outside your windows that may block our installers (except greenery)

Preparing for Door Installation

If you’re having new doors installed, here is how to prepare your home:

• Remove any window treatments and decorations like wreaths or window clings
• Remove any furniture that may block our installers’ movements around the door both inside and out
• Take up any rugs, both inside and out
